I completed my studies in fundamental physics in 2007 (UCM and Vigo Universities) and I received a master research degree in 'Photonics and Laser Technologies' at the University of Vigo (Spain) under the supervision of Prof. Humberto Michinel in 2009. I then spent 4 months at University of Basque Country (Spain) giving my first steps in the field of Spintronics under the supervision of the Dr. Eugene Sherman. In October 2009, I then joined NanoSpinTronics group at Institut d'Electronique Fondamentale (France) and under the supervision of Dr. Thibaut Devolder and Dr. Joo-Von Kim, I studied the dynamical response of magnetization under the influence of a spin polarized current.
Recent Research projects
My current research is mainly focused on the field of Spintronics and particularly in the dynamics of magnetic vortices from a theoretical point of view. These objects represent a very interesting system due to its particular structure and by its kind of dynamics (non Newtonian). A magnetic vortex is a curling magnetic structure whose core can be pointing either up or down with the same energy for each state. This degeneracy can remind to a bit of information (|Up > = 1 and |Down > = 0) and so, it has been considered as a potential candidate for non-volatile memory devices. Although several experimentaland theoretical studies have shown that by an external driven force, it is possible to control the polarity of the vortex, the physical origin that implies the core reversal switching mechanism (from |Up > to |Down > and vice versa) is still an open question that I am trying to solve in collaboration with Dr. Joo-Von Kim and Dr. Sébastien Petit.
