Research Interests

  • Quantum Optics

I have been working on electronic materials and devices in Singapore and China. Wide-band gap semiconductor thin films, such as ZnO and SiC, have been successfully grown using a filtered-cathode vacuum-arc technique. During my MSc study, I worked on blue LEDs for flat panel displays using a combination of inorganic and organic materials.

Recent Research projects

My current research is focused on solid-state quantum information processing and optical spintronics based on semiconductor nanostructures:

  • Quantum information processing : Highly efficient and stable single-photon sources, photon-number resolving photon detector, quantum coupling between excitonic quantum bits and coherent control of single excitonic and spin quantum bits.

  • Cavity quantum electrodynamics : Coupling between quantum dots and nanocavities to achieve efficient single-photon sources and exciton-photon entanglement; Cavity modes of ZnO nanowires and nanobelts at room temperature.

  • Optical spintronics : Addressing and detecting single spins in single quantum dots with ultrafast laser pulses; Spin Injection Hall effect in two dimensional electron gas.
