William Rostain

I am a protein engineer and synthetic biologist working on using enzymes for continuous-flow biocatalysis. I joined Hitachi in 2022 where I use computational and experimental approaches to design enzymes for chemo-enzymatic systems.

I am particularly interested in combining high-throughput experimental methods and AI protein design tools, and in understanding how to make enzymes work in non-natural environments.

I collaborate with Dr Jenny Molloy (http://openbioeconomy.org) and Prof. Ljiljana Fruk (www.fruk-lab.com), co-supervising PhD students and postdocs as biology lead for Hitachi within the EPSRC “Engzyme” prosperity partnership.
