In recent years, quantum computers have developed rapidly. At Hitachi we work as a global R&D team across two major hubs — one at the University of Cambridge and the other one at Hitachi’s central research laboratory in Tokyo, Japan. As a global team, it is our ambition to develop a large-scale error-corrected quantum computer based on semiconductor spin qubits.
In Cambridge our team explores the scientific frontiers of quantum computing in collaboration with our academic partners from the University of Cambridge. Our experimental team develops high fidelity operations for semiconductor spin-qubits. Our theory team explores quantum algorithms and fundamentals. A particular focus area are hardware-tailored variational quantum eigensolvers, error-correction schemes, and magic-state distillation protocols.
